Dr. Carlette has been working in the pharmacy industry since 1987. Starting at the University of Texas Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas, she is a proud alum of Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Houston, Texas. Though the majority of her pharmacy journey has involved hospital director, as well as health system, leadership roles, her early career began in community pharmacy practice.
Her first pharmacist jobs were with Kroger Pharmacy and Eckerd (right before the CVS transition). With encouragement from her father, Robert Earl, she ultimately transitioned to owning her own pharmacies in Hitchcock and Texas City, Texas. A memoir of her first year as a pharmacist was published in 2015 ("Love Bullies: Observations from My Pharmacy Window" available via Amazon).
Through her collaborative clinical relationships, Dr. Carlette has enlisted physician and provider guest contributors in cardiology, mental health, nephrology, neurology, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology. These physicians and providers will share their perspectives, personal stories and what they wish they could really tell their patients, without filter. A great insight for any listener to enjoy.
After multiple requests for both professional and community-based speaker engagements, Dr. Carlette felt a natural response to requests for "more" could be supported through the Feel Better Be Well podcast.
When presenting to non-medical professionals, some of the most common questions asked are concerning the combination of prescription medications with herbal supplements. Though many can be taken together with no issues, there are some potential contraindications (with disease states) interactions (between medications and supplements) that could cause serious harm. With the Feel Better Be Well Podcast, Dr. Carlette seeks to provide warnings, when appropriate, as well as education on holistic, or natural, options as well.
Besides discussing traditional organ-based illnesses, such as brain, heart, lung and liver disease, Dr. Carlette promotes "Mental Health is the New Wealth". Informative discussions from Anxiety to Bipolar and from Narcissism to Schizophrenia will be explored.
The goal is to "Know Better, Do Better, Feel Better and Be Well". In each episode, we provide practical tips for building a wellness routine that works for you and drives home the power of consistency.
